Me and my lens at one with nature. . .

Staring competition

Gotta love the Squirrels… However: I do love Squirrels and how numerous they are, how you can see them all over the place without much looking required. In Scotland and the UK for that matter are not native. Most people would think of these animals being a part of our wildlife and that they have always been here. Red Squirrels are our native Squirrel and they are in dire need of our help. It is humans that thought of the Reds as a pest and started culling, and then the Grey Squirrel came along from America and stared out competing our wonderful Red.

I would love it if people started thinking more about what is native to our lands rather than just what they see. I know it seems harsh, but really when you think about it Britain is FULL of species from other countries.Introduced species such as Rabbit (a tad unbelievable to most…), Brown Rat, and Fallow Deer, Mink (a huge problem to birds and species of our country and including Iceland), Ferrett, Edible Dormouse and MANY more. We have lost what was once ours and instead of “intoducing” species that are not “originally” belonging, why dont we bring back the species that matter!

Lynx! Bear! Boar! WOLVES! And start taking action!
